JDM and Import Tuners

 Where JDM started??

JDM Tuners (Japanese Domestic Motor Tuners) and street racing were started in japan about 20 years ago in japan. Basically tuning up the stock street legal car to become faster than others such as rebuilding the motors, Tubors, new suspension, etc... Some of these tuners' cars are faster and stronger than the cars that using in the legal racing on the tracks. Because Street Tuners do not have rules and they can built their cars anyway they like just to be faster than the others.

Came to America

In mid 90s and later, the JDM Tuners started traveling around the world and the U.S. became second biggest street racing world after Japan. After Fast and the Furious movie came out, a lot of younger folks(Male and Female) started working on their car. And those cars they used in all four of those Fast and the Furious movies sells went up too.

Teenagers and Street Racing
Now a day, i see most hight school teenagers and youger folks working on their cars which is good thing because they spend their spare time working on their cars instead of going out and partying. But the bad thing is the illegal street racing. Not all the import tuners racing on the street illegally. The most teenager(around 17,18) just got their driver license, first car and first job spend all their pay checks on their cars to race with the others on the street. Street racing is fun but not safe and worth it. If you are willing to test your modified car, please take it to dyno, drag track, speedways where you can be safe and leagally racing.

(JDM swap Under progress)

Nissan Vs Toyota
In Japanese motors, Toyota and Nissan are the most famous in JDM and Import world. But the most import street racers in the U.S. love to work on honda. Because Honda are cheaper in parts and so easy to work on. Compare to Nissan with Honda; the money you would spend just on nissan motor, you can possibly rebuilt the whole honda civic motor and body. But there is no budget and time line in Tuner world. The more money you can put in, the better car you can built. And mostly those cars do not hold the value so that before you built a car make sure that you would want to stick with it for long time and not selling it back because selling the builded car is wasting money. You can rarely find the persone that can pull back all the money they put into their cars.

In Nissan, Tuners and Drifters are mostly focus on the 240s because they are the only nissan that can find around here with inline four rear wheels drive and cheaper than the other rear wheels drive nissans such as 350z and the Skylines. And most skyline are made for japanese domestic and right hand drives so that harder to bring into the U.S. because of some states in the U.S. are not allowing right hand drives.
